Upcoming Gallery Event: Signs of Resistance
May 1, 2026 - 4 - 7 PM
This is a No Kings follow-up event, for sane, democracy-loving people in our deep red area to be in community with one another. A loose, informal gallery show where most of the shop's usual wares will still be available for purchase but the walls will be covered with protest signs!
Refreshments (finger foods and beverages) will be served.
If you will be in the Alabama/Georgia/Tennessee Tri-state area and wish to attend, we welcome you. If you'd like to display some protest signs or other protest art, we would LOVE that - please send an email to comingupviolets@gmail.com to let us know and include a photo and/or description of any signs you would bring, along with a rough idea what the size of each sign is. This is purely for the purposes of better planning the exhibit.
If anyone is bringing a sign, THANK YOU, and please bring it by 3 pm on Wednesday, April 29 if possible. But if you have a great sign and you can't get here before the show, you should still bring it!
Open Studio Protest Sign Workshop
Between now and then, the studio will be open
- Thursdays 10 - 3,
- Fridays 10 - 4 (later with RSVP), and
- Saturdays 10 - 4
(Sundays 11 - 3 are possible with RSVP)
for anyone who would like to make a protest sign of their own!

You can come whether you'd like help making a protest sign or if you just want a place to go work on one around other people.

Bring your own materials if you can, but if you don't have supplies, you can use ours!

You can keep your sign here for as long as you need if you're not comfortable bringing it home for any reason.

We Are Looking For Volunteers
Folks, this gallery is essentially a one-woman operation, and that woman is pretty rickety. So we're going to need some helping hands in order to put on a free event. Please send us an email if you'd be willing & able to come help set up, break down, promote the event, etc. Students are welcome.
All volunteers will be thanked at the shop and on the website, and we are happy to share any projects, websites, social media links, etc., that you may have when we credit you. You will also have the option of selling items in the shop at a severely reduced commission. Finally, while this event is free, guests and others have the option to donate toward the cost of the party and if there are donations, they will be split between defraying show expenses and gas money for volunteers.
A rising tide should raise all boats.
Posters! And Flyers!
8.5 x 11" Posters and quarter-page flyers are now available and can be picked up at the shop, and printable versions are available here. If you live within about an hour of Mentone, Alabama, and put one of these flyers in any place where Blue Dots gather or show them to any friends who are frustrated with living amongst the cultists, I salute you.
We thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for anything you do to let folks know about this event! Maintaining sanity through growing community and normalizing being Progressive in the Deep South through visibility are our goals here.
We plan to hold an LGBTQIA+ Pride Month exhibit near the end of June, so please get in touch if you would like to know about that or get involved in any way!
